Louisiana Purchase State Park, in Arkansas near Blackton, Arkansas, was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1993 under the title Beginning Point of the Louisiana Purchase Survey.[2],[3] It is the point from which the lands acquired through the Louisiana Purchase of 1803 were subsequently surveyed. A granite marker was dedicated in 1926. The marker is located in a swamp, but is accessible by a 950 foot boardwalk.[3]
It is located at the junction of Lee County, Monroe County, and Phillips County, 21 miles south of Brinkley or 13 miles northwest of Marvell on U.S. Route 49, then 2 miles east on Arkansas Route 362.
