Longest serving mayor in the United States
Some of the longest serving mayors in the United States include:
- Hilmar Moore is the mayor of Richmond, Texas, and has been in office since 1949.
- Joseph P. Riley, Jr., is the Mayor of Charleston, South Carolina since December 1975.[1]
- Robert P. Linn (1908–2004), mayor of Beaver, Pennsylvania from January 2, 1946 – August 22, 2004.[2][3][4][5][6] He served 21,418 days from the inauguration to his death if both those days are counted as full days. That is 58 years, 7 months, and 21 days when you include his last and first days as full days.
- John H. Land (mayor) was first elected as Mayor of Apopka, Florida in 1949, and he served in this capacity until 1968. In 1970 he was once again elected as mayor and he has served ever since. In January 2007, Land celebrated his 55th year as mayor.
