Campbell graduated in Fine Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University. While at university, she started to write and record music on a four-track recorder in her flat.[3] She released two CD-R singles and one 7" vinyl on Manchester-based label Filthy Home Recordings. This brought LoneLady to the attention of Too Pure, and in 2007 they released a 7" single. In 2009, Campbell signed to Warp Records. Her debut album, Nerve Up, was released 22 February 2010. [4].
In 2011, it was announced that Campbell would be collaborating with Jah Wobble. This collaborative project is called Psychic Life. The result of this is the eponymously-titled debut album Psychic Life, which is reported to be inspired by disco, post-punk and psychogeography. It will be released by Cherry Red Records on 14 November 2011. [5] The project also reunites Wobble with fellow ex-PiL guitarist Keith Levene. A digital-only Psychic Life EP, fronted by the song "Tightrope", will be released in October.
