Academics

Lone Peak offers several Honor classes and 22 out of 30 available AP courses throughout the year, as well as several off-campus classes at different colleges such as BYU, University of Utah, UVU, and several business and technical colleges.

Sports

Lone Peak currently sponsors these interscholastic teams through its athletic department for both young men and women: basketball, cross country, soccer, swimming, tennis, golf, and track and field. For boys there are teams competing in baseball, football, and wrestling. Girls may also compete in cheerleading, drill team, softball, and volleyball.[5]

The following teams have won state championships, as sponsored by the Utah High School Activities Association:

Clubs

The school sponsors a number of clubs ranging from the arts and sciences to popular culture and athletics. The list changes from year-to-year based on student interests.

Fine arts

The Productions class is the elite theatrical team which produces many shows a year. The Lone Peak Productions Company (King Arthur's Company) produces two musicals, several plays, a musical revue, and competes in region and state each year; in addition Lone Peak has a competitive Shakespeare team. The Shakespeare team competes at the The Utah Shakespearean Festival Shakespeare Competition each fall. For the past four years, they have ranked 1st place in Buckingham Sweepstakes, and taking home 1st place in Ensemble Scenes.

The Drama Department has its own separate council. Like student government it plans activities, dances, and major events dealing specifically to the Drama Department.

The Fine Arts Department also features other programs in the fine arts such as ballroom dance, speech, debate, and various visual art and sculpture programs. Lone Peak has a strong choral program as well. The Chamber Singers regularly tour to New York City, competing in the Festival of Gold, a National Invitational Choral Festival. Each year they perform several concerts, benefit concerts, as well as many local gigs.

The Lone Peak Bands have consistently received top honors among Utah's high school. Under the direction of Curtis McKendrick (known as Nightcrawler in Lone Peak's parlance), the 2009 Marching Knights placed first at the Nebo Tournament of Bands, the Rocky Mountain Band Invitational (BYU), the Davis Cup, and the UMEA Red Rocks Marching Invitational. The band has been a participant at the Bands of America Regionals in Towson, Maryland, Los Angeles, California, and St. George, Utah finishing 12th overall last year (2009). The Lone Peak Advanced Jazz Ensemble is one of only two bands in Utah to be name a finalist at the prestigious Monterey Jazz Festival (2007). Last year, the jazz band placed first among 29 high school bands at the Peaks Jazz Festival (2010). The band program consists of a Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Advanced Jazz Band, Intermediate Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Marching Band, Beginning Guitar Ensemble, and an Advanced Guitar Ensemble.
