Llangarron

Llangarron is a small village and civil parish in southwest Herefordshire, within seven miles of the towns of Ross-on-Wye (Herefordshire, England) and Monmouth (Monmouthshire, Wales).[1] The village centre is home to the small church of St. Deinst, a Briton (Celt) who lived in the sixth century AD and became bishop of Bangor.[2] A church has existed on the site since at least the early eleveth century.[3] The village no longer possesses a post office or pub.

The name of the village (also spelt Llangarren and Llangarran) refers to the Garron brook, a tributary of the river Wye; the llan element is Welsh, roughly meaning "village". Several farms and villages in the area have Welsh names, a legacy of the fluid nature of the England-Wales border in the past.
