List of tallest buildings in Providence

The United States city of Providence, Rhode Island is the site of 27 high-rises,[1] 16 of which stand taller than 175 feet (53 m). The tallest skyscraper in the city is the Bank of America Building, which rises 428 feet (130 m) in Downtown Providence.[2] Due to the what is dubbed the Providence "Renaissance", the city has been the site of several construction projects. For the most part, the new projects consist of condominium and hotel developments, though two new office buildings are also proposed.[A]

The most recent construction project to be completed in Providence was The Residences at the Westin. The project consisted of a 31-story residential tower rising 365 feet (111 m). The building, which was constructed adjacent to the existing Westin Providence, was completed in December 2007, becoming the 3rd-tallest building in the city. The Waterplace condominium towers are two other recently completed high-rises in the city; both were topped out in 2007 and completed in March 2008. By 2010, Providence is expected to have 5 new skyscrapers over 200 feet (60 m) in height.[B]

A. ^ Empire at Broadway and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island Headquarters are two office buildings currently proposed for the city.
B. ^ Empire at Broadway, Waterplace 1, Waterplace 2, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island Headquarters, and Intercontinental Hotel Providence are all skyscrapers proposed with heights over 200 feet (60 m) that are expected to be completed by 2010.
C. ^ The Biltmore Hotel is ranked including the height of the prominent "BILTMORE" sign on the top of the building. Such signs are often included in architectural heights, which is what this particular list ranks. However, other sites, such as SkyscraperPage, do not include the sign in the total height of the building. Without the sign, the Biltmore stands at 205 feet (62.5 m), making it the 12th-tallest in Providence rather than the 9th-tallest.
