Golden Rod ( United States): The cargo ship ran aground in the mouth of the Fraser River, British Columbia, Canada. Refloated the next day and returned to service.

March

15 March

Viking ( Canada) exploded and sank off Horse Islands. Twenty seven crew killed.

April

2 April

Malabar ( Australia): The cargo liner ran aground off Long Bay, New South Wales.

June

9 June

HMS Poseidon ( Royal Navy) collided with SS Yuta China off Weihai. Twenty two crew killed.

July

19 July

IJN Chitose ( Imperial Japanese Navy) scuttled off Kōchi.

September

Unknown date

Lyminge ( United Kingdom) ran aground on Ebal Rocks of Gurnard's Head. Crew and passengers rowed ashore, Ship's cat rescued later.^[1]

Baychimo ( Canada): Mired in ice near Barrow, Alaska and never recovered

November

3 November

Schooner Sainte Annen ( France) lost her rudder and sails in heavy seas and went ashore at Porthleven, Cornwall, whilst trying to put into the harbour for repairs.^[2]^[3]

27 November

Duke of Lancaster ( United Kingdom) caught fire in Heysham Harbour, capsized on 28 November. Raised in January 1932 and repaired.^[4]
