List of extrasolar planets directly imaged

This is the list of 12 extrasolar planets that were directly observed, sorted by observed separations. This method is best work for young planets that emit infrared light and they are far from the glaring effects of the star.

The most massive directly imaged planet is HR 8799 d, which masses 9 MJ; the least massive is Fomalhaut b, which masses 2 MJ. The widest planet-star separation is GJ 3483 b, which is 2500 AU; the shortest separation is 2M J044144b, which is 2.0 AU.

There are 4 members of the multi-planet systems, all orbiting around HR 8799.

Yellow rows denote the members of the multi-planet system
