Björk is a BRIT Award-winning singer-songwriter from Reykjavík, Iceland who has released ten studio albums. Her debut album, Björk, was released in 1977 by the Fálkinn record label. Her subsequent nine albums were released by One Little Indian Records: Debut (1993), Post (1995), Telegram (1997), Homogenic (1997), Selmasongs (2000), Vespertine (2001), Medúlla (2004), Drawing Restraint 9 (2005), and Volta (2007). Six of her albums have entered the top 10 in the UK Albums Chart,[1] while her tenth album, Volta, is her only album to reach the top 10 in the Billboard 200.[2] Björk's record label, One Little Indian Records, reported that she has sold more than 15 million albums worldwide.[3]
Björk has received four awards from both the BRIT Awards, from eight nominations, and the MTV Video Music Awards, from twelve nominations. Björk has also received 12 nominations from the Grammy Awards but has not received an award; she was nominated every year from 1996 to 2002. The film industry has also recognized Björk by nominating the 2000 song, "I've Seen It All", for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture at the Academy Awards. She was ranked #36 on VH1's "The 100 Greatest Women in Rock and Roll".[4] Overall, Björk has received fourteen awards from 52 nominations.[5]
