This is a list of football (soccer) players who have played for Sydney FC. It includes players that have played at least one match, either as a starting player or a substitute, for Sydney in the A-League competition and the finals series. The Pre-Season Cup competition is not included.
The A-League is the premier football competition in Australia. It was founded in 2004, and Sydney were one of the eight inaugural clubs to participate in the new competition.[1] The A-League competition consists of a regular season and a finals series of the top four teams, with the premiership being awarded to the club who finishes on top of the table in the regular season, and the championship to the winner of the Grand Final.[2] Sydney have won one final, which came in the 2005–06 season, having finished second in the table. The club finished in fourth place in the 2006–07 season on goal difference to Queensland Roar FC, who finished fifth.[3] Sydney finished the third A-League season in 2007-08 third on the table, and were eliminated in the first round in the finals series.
