Mr Flatley then tries to reconstruct the great outdoors in the school gym, which does not impress Carrie. Will Frank, Carrie, Oscar and Rose be able to protect the patient? Carrie has been reading horror graphic novels featuring a girl named Pookie Plummer, and Rose tells her, "You shouldn't even be reading that kind of rubbish." Davina and Carrie later have an encounter with someone they believe to be the Grey Lady but turns out to be one of the SKUL ninjas, who appear to be zeroing in on Troy Greek. While Frank attempts to find the homing beacon signalling to the ninjas (which he at first believes to be in a life-support machine) Oscar, Rose and Carrie then try to defeat the ninjas but Carrie jeopardises their plan, causing the ninjas to escape. Rose is unsympathetic to Carrie when she tells her that she is afraid after reading Pookie Plummer and angrily tells her that unless she pulls herself together, they may have to consider leaving her out of the mission. Oscar and Rose then move on in search of the ninjas, leaving behind a rather hurt and tearful Carrie. Frank attempts to comfort her via communicator and Carrie sees Rose and Oscar being attacked by the third ninja (having taken out the other two) through her Spy-Pod, and she goes along to help. She is distressed to discover that Rose and Oscar have been poisoned and follows the ninja to HQ, where she defeats her along with Frank. They discover that the ninjas were there to give Troy Greek and antidote to the poison they injected him with, while at the same time downloading the entire MI9 data onto a memory stick: the defection and the poisoning had been a pure con, and the homing beacon had been in Troy Greek all along, which is why Frank couldn't find it. Later Rose apologises to Carrie for not being more sympathetic to her, saying that she had once gone to pieces on a mission before and seeing Carrie like that had brought back bad memories.
