Liodon is a genus of mosasaur from the Late Cretaceous. Remains assigned to this genus have been found in Africa, Asia, Europe, America and South America, and New Zealand. It was first named by Richard Owen as Leiodon, but that name was already in use for a fish, necessitating the name change.[1]
