Line 2 (Italian: Linea due) is a rapid transit railway line that forms part of the Metropolitana di Napoli (Napoli Metro), which is the main part of the metro system for the city of Naples, Italy. It currently connects 11 stations, it is in the process of being upgraded currently.
Line 2 operates on the Passante line, which crosses the city of Naples from East to West direction, from Pozzuoli to Gianturco. It is a suburban railway line operated by Trenitalia, and the tracks are shared by long-distance trains operating on the Rome–Formia–Naples line.
When the upgrading works are completed, Line 2 will connect 13 stations.

Construction was begun in 1911 and was then suspended during World War I, before it was completed in 1925. Since opening a frequent local service has operated along this line. Line 2 has always been run electrically, originally through a 750V dc third-rail, but since 1935, it has utilised a 3000V dc overhead power supply. All of the intermediate stations on Line 2 are deep level with escalator access.
In 2002, Line 1 and Line 2 were connected from a pedestrian tunnel between Museo and Cavour. It is being extended to San Giovanni a Teduccio on the eastern periphery of the city. The planned extensions of Line 2 (linea 2) will include reaching Mergellina stazione, Arco Mirelli stazione and San Pasquale stazione (on Line 6), which are all within 200m of the beaches at Via Caracciolo, giving rail access from central Naples directly to the sea.[1]
Line 2's suburban services are currently provided by dilapidated rollingstock, with poor access for an urban railway, and operate through low platforms designed for long-distance trains, requiring three rather high steps from the platform to sitting or standing places. Only at Garibaldi are there separate platforms for suburban and other trains, but the design of the station is not any different.
