Liaquatpur or Liaqatpur is a town and administrative centre of Liaquatpur Tehsil in Rahim Yar Khan District, Pakistan. It is located at 28°55'60N 70°57'0E with an altitude of 95 metres (314 feet).It is situated exactly between the main cities of Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.The main railway line connecting Lahore and Karachi passes through this city and a small railway station is also in this city.Liaquat Pur is the biggest Tehsil of the Punjab by area but it still stands in the row of undeveloped city.The city is covered by the villages and canals from all sides. The main business is agriculture. Almost every second citizen is engaged with Agriculture directly or indirectly.
Liaquat Pur was named once "Chau-Dari" from Persian it is translated as "4 - windows". When Bahawalpur was a Princely state, nawabs of Bahawalpur constructed here a big Minaret and on the top of this Minaret there were 4 Windows, Usually seen in Mughal or Islamic Architecture. The purpose of builting this Minaret was to watch over the movements of the Army of Jaisalmer state. Whenever there was some unusual movement 1 of these 4 soldiers sitting and watching on this Minaret blew a big bang bell, as an alarm to get ready for Nawab's Armies. Although after the Partition of Pakistan and India this area was renamed as Liaquatpur in honor of first Prime Minister of Pakistan Liaquat Ali Khan.
Liaquat Pur is an agricultural city and the largest market of gurh(alternate of sugar) in Asia. Gurh is exported to all Asian Countries. Most of its inhabitants earn from their crops. Here is a list notable economy role players in this tehsil.
Liaquat Pur is connected with both of its District Rahim Yar Khan and Division Bahawalpur by asphalted roads of national standards. It has a medium level Bus Station in its heart and its Railway station is situated on the main rail line of Pakistan. There is no airport in Liaquat Pur yet but its stadium has been several times used as a helipad.
