Lenin M. Sivam

Lenin M. Sivam is a Canadian filmmaker. He was born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka and moved to Toronto, Canada in 1991. Sivam is a self-taught storyteller. He writes and directs all of his movies. His diverse and controversial body of work is well respected in Canada. His first short, A Few Good People, won the Best Short Film of the Year Award from the Independent Art Film Society in 2006.

1999, Sivam’s first full feature, was a labour of love, produced on a shoestring budget. It world premiered at the 2009 Vancouver International Film Festival and it was touring other film festivals across the world. 1999 won many awards including the audience choice award at the 2010 Toronto ReelWorld Film Festival.

Sivam received an award for his 2006 short film A Few Good People (Iniyavarkal).
