Lecanora is a genus of lichen belonging to the suborder Lecanorineae.[2]

Historical Mention

Lecanora Tartarea was probably the Viking dye-moss (Old Norse: lit-mosi from litr "dye" + mosi "moss") from which the English word litmus derives because it is commonly found in Norway and Sweden.[3]
