Lebanon is a town in Russell County, Virginia, United States. The population was 3,273 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Russell County[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 4.1 square miles (10.6 km²), all of it land.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 3,273 people, 1,420 households, and 886 families residing in the town. The population density was 797.4 people per square mile (308.2/km²). There were 1,548 housing units at an average density of 377.1 per square mile (145.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 95.54% White, 3.73% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.09% from other races, and 0.52% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.34% of the population.
There were 1,420 households out of which 25.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.4% were married couples living together, 13.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.6% were non-families. 35.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.14 and the average family size was 2.76.
In the town the population was spread out with 19.8% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 26.1% from 25 to 44, 25.3% from 45 to 64, and 19.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 88.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.5 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $27,750, and the median income for a family was $35,750. Males had a median income of $29,583 versus $23,989 for females. The per capita income for the town was $16,678. About 15.3% of families and 20.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 33.1% of those under age 18 and 11.9% of those age 65 or over.
Lebanon is the hometown of Survivor: Redemption Island cast member Ralph Kiser.
The Lebanon High School Boys track team won the Group A state title in 2008.The team photo is in the Lebanon High School lobby.[5] The Lebanon High School Boys Basketball team won Group A state title in 1991.
It is illegal to buy or sell any alcohol and accented business sell alcoholic beverages at this location in the county on Sundays. One exception to this alcohol rule has been the new industrial park on Highway 19 near Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and El Campesino, where sales of alcoholic beverages are permitted on Sunday. One of the conditions of the new alcohol rule in the county was to have the local Wal-Mart.
