Company history

Lantronix was founded in 1989 with the introduction of an ethernet terminal server enabling terminals and serial printers to connect to a host computer over a network. In the early 1990s, Lantronix introduced a complete line of print servers that enabled users to inexpensively share laser printers and plotters over the network.

Later, Lantronix offered a single-port external networking solution that enabled serial devices to be connected to Ethernet networks.

In 2003, Lantronix introduced the XPort, a compact network module complete with an embedded web server. The next year, the company introduced a serial-to-Wi-Fi module called the WiPort.

In 2007, Lantronix launched the SecureLinx Spider, a single-port KVM-over-IP solution for remotely managing distributed servers.

Most recently, Lantronix expanded its product portfolio with the availability of ManageLinx and its first application, VIP Access, which provides secure remote Internet access to control almost any electronic equipment behind firewalls.
