Lahore Grammar School (abbreviated as LGS) is a group of private fee-paying group of academic institutions based in city of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. The system was established, in January 1979, at its 55 Main Gulberg campus. The institution provides education to both boys and girls until A Level. It has extended its network to cater to the needs of the middle income group in its Landmark Schools. The LGS College for Women offers a degree programme in arts and sciences as well as a bachelors in computers. LGS has branches in Islamabad, Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Wah Cantt. It offers quality education to the low income group through the Lahore Education Society School, entirely supported and funded by LGS.
LGS provides preschool education, primary education, secondary education and preparation for international General Certificate of Education (GCE). Some branches also provide preparation for local Secondary School Certificate (SSC).

The institutions follow a curriculum designed to culminate in GCE O Level and GCE AS/A Level qualifications from British examination boards of University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) of Cambridge Assessment (UCLES) and Edexcel of Pearson PLC. The institutions are also classified as international university-preparatory schools, giving students the opportunity to apply to foreign universities for admission into undergraduate programs.
Students from each grade are sorted in four houses which are named after the fastest-flying birds in the animal kingdom. All houses participate in the activities and competitions of the school.
Some branches have a Hawk House as well. Recently, a new house has been added, the Peregrine House.
A student government system operates at sections of O-Level and A-Level. It is termed the Student Council and it has on average 20-30 members from Grade 13 (for A-Level Student Council). Its primary functions are to collaborate with the administration to bring various opportunities for students, organize activities/events and as well as develop the school magazine. The Student Council is separate for each batch and the members are selected on a certain criteria. Some posts like that of the Head Students and sometimes House Captains are selected on a nomination and voting system. The members are also required to participate in the formal ceremony of Oath Taking. This system of student government is also found in other UK schools of Lahore like AC, ICAS, RA, SICAS, SISA and senior branches of LACAS. As of academic session of 2010-11, the seats of A-Level Student Council are as follows:
The Grammar School's co-curricular activities are widely popular among the youth of Lahore. They range from educational events to completely enjoyment programmes. Most of the branches have an environment society, which campaigns against the degreening of Lahore, and the concomitant decline in Lahore's air quality. Many branches have a community service program, proving students with opportunities to volunteer at a variety of organizations. Some of these include the Pakistan Society for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled, the Rising Sun Institute, Fatima Memorial Hospital, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital. Debate clubs are very popular and are usually in Urdu and English. The Johar Town branch won the All Pakistan U 19 championships this year, beating old rivals Karachi Grammar School. [1] The team consisted of Ibrahim Rabbani, Ali Akram Hayat and Gohar Irfan, with Ali and Ibrahim getting selected for the Pakistan Team for the World Schools Debating Championships 2012, in South Africa. [2] Bonfires are an annual tradition for junior Lahore Grammar School branches. Each branch has its own event and the students registered at that school attend with their family and friends. The event is an opportunity for students to take a brief break from schoolwork. It is also a chance for them and their parents to interact with teachers and school staff in an informal and social setting. Students and teachers often use this as an opportunity to discuss things that might be causing problems at school because everyone is in a good mood and willing to be more cooperative. It encourages a healthy relationship. [3]
Lahore Grammar's teams have won awards at numerous tournaments on the national and international circuit. Also, many concerts of famous musical bands are held annually. The bands maybe local or even the school's own bands. All major branches put on an annual play every year, in Punjabi, Urdu or English. They are widely advertised and a reasonable amount of audience (mainly the youth) attends them. Plays like Andhera Ujala were also screened on television channels whereas Khatra-e-Jaan which had a number of LGS participants also received favorable reviews across Lahore.[4] They also receive a good critical response from the local newspaper reviewers. The school's network has gone on several educational trips to various parts of inside Lahore, all over Pakistan and to abroad countries including India[5], China, the United States of America, Uzbekistan, Egypt, and several other countries.[6][7] Lahore grammar students also include some very intelligent and hardworking students who won globally.
