The LAX Automated People Mover (or LAX APM) is a planned people mover transit system intended to bring airline passengers and staff to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). It will be designed, constructed, and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). The project is part of LAWA's master plan for LAX modernization, which also includes several other major improvement projects.
The Automated People Mover will use 96th Street between the terminal area (in the west) to Aviation Boulevard (in the east). LAWA expects the trip between Aviation Boulevard and the terminals will take approximately five minutes [1]. From Aviation/Century, the line may then continue south to Imperial Highway.
The people mover will be designed to connect the following nodes:
A key regional transportation link, Century/Aviation station will allow passengers to transfer between the Metro Green Line, the future Metro Crenshaw Line, and the APM. This station is being designed by Metro and LAWA, and will interface with the Crenshaw Corridor project. Metro is completing conceptual engineering on the station, and recently received an FTA grant for preliminary engineering [2].
