Kuřim (Czech pronunciation: [ˈkur̝ɪm]; German: Gurein)is a town in the district of Brno-countryside in South Region, 14 km northwest of Brno. In 2011 there were 10 857 inhabitants and is the largest city of Brno-Country district. In the cadastre of the city is situated prison designed for prison sentences of convicted men aged 18 years who were relegated to soudem sentenced to prison.
