Jones was born in Monterey, California. His father was a real estate contractor and his mother was a unit assistant at a memorial hospital.
Jones graduated from George Fox University in 2009 with a Bachelor's in Business Management and Marketing.[3]
In 2008, Jones started the video game development company "Pocket Monkey Games" which focuses primarily on developing and publishing video games for Apple's AppStore.[4] Jones gained early success on the AppStore with the successful release of Sparta, the side-scrolling hack and slash based in Ancient Sparta which reached the Top 10 of all iPhone Apps.[5]
As Executive Producer for Pocket Monkey Games, Jones oversaw the production of Champion Archer and Swingaling, both earning featured status from Apple. In early 2009, Pocket Monkey Games expanded into a publishing house and has since published a variety of games on the AppStore.[6]
In November 2009, Kris Jones reduced his role within Pocket Monkey Games to join Michael Taylor in the founding of Thunder Game Works to focus on Trenches as brand developer and game designer.[7]
Jones helped Michael Taylor in founding Thunder Game Works and with the production of Trenches, a World War one Tower Defense game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Jones currently serves as brand developer and designer for the company and is currently working on Stenches, the companion game to Trenches.[8]
In August 2010, Thunder Game Works teamed up with Dave Castelnuovo, creator of Pocket God, to bring Pygmy Zombies into the Trenches universe and allow players to battle them.[9] In response to the crossover, Jones told PocketGamer and SlideToPlay that "We love to see the App Store develop and mature and we encourage quality developers to work together to push the quality games and applications above the flood of garbage applications."[10]
