Moskovskaya Konditerskaya Fabrika Krasny Oktyabr Open Joint-Stock Company (Russian: Открытое акционерное общество "Московская кондитерская фабрика "Красный Октябрь") is a Russian confectionery manufacturer and a member of Obyedinyonnye Kontserny holding company. Krasny Oktyabr was founded by Theodor Ferdinand von Einem.[1]

Alyonka

One of the most famous chocolate bars the Krasny Oktyabr factory has been producing since 1966 [2]. Today they are still just as popular. The chocolate bars can be described as a long thin bar of chocolate weighing 100 grams. The bar is subdivided into 3x5 tiles, each of which have the name of the factory «Красный Октябрь» imprinted into it. The cost of each candy bar since 2008 is 40 rubles. The wrapper depicts a blue-eyed girl wearing a traditional Russian scarf, who is presumably "Alyonka", an endearing form of the name Elena or Helen. The illustration is based on a photograph of the daughter of one of the artists working at the factory. Though many women have claimed to have been the famous child, at present all claims have been proclaimed fraudulent. There is also the legend that "Alyonka" had turned to the monastic life in one of Russia's monasteries.
