Kotlje is a village in the hills to the south of Ravne na Koroškem in the Carinthia region in northern Slovenia.[2]
The Parish Church in the village is dedicated to Saint Margaret and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Maribor. It is first mentioned in written documents dating to 1367, but has been rebuilt and expanded a number of times.[3]
The Slovene conservative politician and diplomat Alojzij Kuhar was born in Kotlje; his brother, the writer Prežihov Voranc was born in the nearby village of Podgora in 1893 and wrote about Kotlje in his novels.
