Koritnice is a village to the east of Knežak in the Ilirska Bistrica Municipality in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia.[2]
There are two churches in the settement, both belonging to the Knežak Parish. The church in the village is dedicated to Saint Anthony the Hermit and a church on a hill to the north of the settlement is dedicated to Saint Jerome. Legend has it that the village got its name from the Slovenian word for a water trough ‘korito’, as farmers had put a number of them out in the meadows for livestock. The village consists of around 80 houses, of which approximately half are empty. There is also a fire station in the village.
Most of the population is employed by JAVOR STOLARNA d.o.o. in the village of Bač, and some are employed in neighbouring towns. Some villagers are farmers; however, their numbers are decreasing. The children go to the primary school in Knežak. [3]
