The Temple

The temple has a 3-tier rajagopuram and has a small prakaram (outer courtyard).

Legend behind the temple

Velli refers to planet (Venus) and gudi refers to place. Venus is believed to have worshipped the God here and the name of the place is derived from it.

Mayan, the sculptor of the Deva Loga constructed many beautiful places and wanted to have a heartiful Dharsan of Sri Ramar. He requested Sri Ramar to give darshan without his Sangu and Chakaram. He appeared as "Kola Vallvill Ramar" at this place without Sangu and Chakram.
