Kmetija ("The Farm") is a Slovene reality show based on the Swedish franchise Farmen by Strix.

Format

12 contestants, 6 female and 6 male, live on the farm similar to those live on a century ago. There is no running water, bathroom, or internet, for 10 weeks. Every week one contestant is eliminated and at the end only one remains and they win a 50,000 EUR grand prize in cash. Every week one contestant is Farm Leader. He chose two servants; male and female. Between these two servants other contestants chose first dualist. First dualist chose second dualist and the second dualist choses a type of dual. There are three possible types; tug of wars, saw or knowledge. If housemates are different gender, the only dual possible is knowledge. The loser of the dual is eliminated, and he/she writes a letter in which they announce next weeks HOH.

Cast

The presenter of first two series was Špela Močnik, celebrity series was presented by Anja Križnik Tomažin and fourth season presenter will be Lilly Žagar.

  1. Špela Močnik was presenter of first two seasons of Kmetija. Before she presented Kmetija was radio presenter on most listened radio in Slovenia; Radio Hit. She presented Hitova Budilka (Hit's Wakeup Call); morning show 6-10am.
  2. Anja Križnik Tomažin was presenter of Kmetija Slavnih. From 2002 to 2007 she presented "Tistega Lepega Popoldneva" (eng.: What A Beautilful Afternoon) along with Lado Bizovičar. After TLP she took pregnancy break and first show after pregnancy break was Kmetija Slavnih.
  3. Fourth season of Kmetija will be presented by Lili Žagar. She previously presented Svet na Kanalu A (eng.: World on Channel A); daily news.

In every season is a Farm master the one that give contestants a task to do it. There were two masters in history of Kmetija.

  1. Marijan Podobnik was farm master in first two seasons and in week 1 and half of week 2 in celebrity edition. He died in week 2 of Kmetija Slavnih.
  2. Vencelj Tušar replace Marija Podobik in week 3 of Kmetija Slavnih after his death. There was no formal announced if he will return to fourth season of Kmetija after 2 years abstence.

Broadcasting

POP TV broadcast all seasons of Kmetija since very beginning. There are five or six episodes in one week, depening on season.

2007 1 In first season of Kmetija were on air 5 episodes per week. Over season there was no live episodes. There were 5 episodes per week; in Tuesday, Wednesday adn Thursday were broadcasted at 10:00 pm CET and in Friday and Saturday were broadcasted at 9:00 pm CET. This kin of episodes were aired over 10 weeks as much as season was recorded. In 11th week there were 4 live talk shows and one live finale in Saturday. In 11th week were episodes aired at 8:00 pm CET. All episodes were broadcasted by POP TV and lest 60min with commercials.
2008 2 The second series format majority follows the one that was in use in first season. However all episoes were broadcasted at 8:00 pm CET.
2009 Slavnih In Kmetija Slavnih broadcasting format changed a little bit. Daily highlights episodes in Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm remain in same format as in Kmetija 2. But new introduction were weekly live shows in Monday nights at 9:00 pm CET. In live shows is main guest eliminated contestant. Live shows lest 120 min with commercials.
2011 4 Kmetija Išče Lastika is broadcasted six nights a week. Five daily shows (TUE-FRI60min/SAT80min) are broadcasted from Tuesday to Saturday at 8 pm CET. And one Live Show (90min) is broadcasted in Sunday at 8 pm. All episodes are broadcasted by POPTV.

Grand Prize

In the live finale a winner is chosen. The winner must win at least two duals out of three. The winner in Kmetija 1 and Kmetija 2 won 50,000 in cash. They were Daša Hliš (Kmetija 1) and Cirila Jeržin (Kmetija 2). In Kmetija Slavnih a sequins system was introduced. Each week contestants can earn 50 sequins, but they can also spend it. The winner wins a prize of sequins. Each sequin is worth 100 . Goran Breščanski from Kmetija Slavnih won 36,300 . In the fourth season of Kmetija the will winner won a farm on which the contestants lived for the show along with 12 ha of land.

Viewers trough voting chose a winner called the People's winner. In season 1 Klemen and in season 2 Goran Leban won a car, and in Kmetija Slavnih Goran Leban won a car.

Ratings

Soon after launch of first season of Kmetija it becomes number 1 reality show. Kmetija's best rating share was 59%, while Big Brother's best rating share was 43%.

Controversy

In 2007, a criminal complaint was filed against POP TV over the inclusion in a Kmetija broadcast of the slaughter of a pig.[1]

The 2009 series (Kmetija slavnih, "Celebrity Farm") caused POP TV to be cited by Slovenia's telecommunications regulatory agency (APEK) for failing to protect children and young people against explicit scenes of sex and violence. The producers were ordered to issue a parental guidance notice.[2]
