Kizhakkencherry is a small village in Palakkad district of Kerala state, South India. It is under Alathur Taluk in Palakkad district of Kerala state, India. It is a panchayath with hills and greenery. It's basically an agriculture based area.

The topography extends from the plains to the hilly regions of the Western Ghats. Palakkuzhi at the southern part of Kizhakkencherry is above 1000m from the sea level. The region is basically agricultural with paddy and rubber being the most important crops. It is one one among the largest rubber producing areas in the country. Many coconut groves can also be found in the eastern region. Coffee and tea plantations are seen in the hilly areas even though the quantity produced is bare minimum. Water for irrigation is obtained from Mangalam Dam which is situated partly in the neighbouring Vandazhi. Main river is a Gayathripuzha which is the tributary of Bharathapuzha. The important agricultural processing centres are some small scale rice mills at Mariyapadam and Kundukad.

The headquarters of the panchayat is situated at Nainankad with the adjacent public library. There are no other major Govt establishments except for the PHC and the schools.

The most visited festival is the annual temple fest called vela of Chatthankulangara Bhagavathi Temple, Moolankode. There are also many other velas in the region including Nedumparambathu Bhagavathy Temple vela. There is a much visited Siva temple at Kundukad with festival every year called Niramala.There is also a Siva temple at Thrippanur. Main mosques are at Punnapadam, Mampad, Nainankad and Moolankode. Churches are there at Valkulambu, Korenchira and Kottekulam. There is a grand car festival (Ratholsavam) being celebrated on December 25th in Kizhakkencherry village Samooham in the month of DHANU. The Deity Sri Maha Ganapathy is taken through the village and ends in Arattu (Sacred bathing of the deity in the river).

Moolankode got a multi class auditorium which is large enough to be used for weddings and other functions. This auditorium is owned by famous enterpreneur P.N.C.Menon who is named as the richest Keralite with a flagship construction firm called Shobha Group. Kathir ulsavam is famous in Sree Kurumba Temple. Ten days Kalamazuthu Pattu is also there.Sree Kurumba Temple is one of the oldest temple in Kerala.

The area was once famous for the recurring communist revenge which led to the killing of several party workers during the splitting of Communist Party of India in 1960s.

The nearest town is Vadakkencherri with a Police Station. The health facilities includes a Primary Health Centre at Moolankode and a Homeo and Ayurvedic dispensaries which still got no permanent location. A veterinery hospital is there at Moolankode. Nearest hospital is at Vadakkencherri which gives basic in-patient facilities.

The place is well connected by local buses to Vadakkencherry through which passess the NH 47. Education facilities include a higher secondary school at Kizhakkencherry , upper primary schools at Trippannur, Mampadu and Moolankode and lower primary schools Kizhakkencherry, Mariyapadam, and Valkulambu. The proposed north-south Hill Highway is to pass through Kizhakkencherry.

The place is a communist stronghold with communists winning majority in the panchayat elections.
