Khushk

The Khushk, Khushak, Khushik, Khushuk, Kushak, Kushk or Kushuk is a Baloch tribe located in Sindh, Baluchistan and Punjab provinces of Pakistan. The people of this tribe mostly speak Seraiki, Balochi and Sindhi as their first language, even a small number of group speaks Brahui.

History

The tribe is a sub-clan of Rind and are descendants of Mir Chakar Khan Rind and named after his grandson Mir Khushal Khan. Due to vast migration of Rind tribe from Baluchistan to Punjab this tribe also left their homeland and migrated to various parts of Pakistan.

But according to some authors this tribe was named after Khushak or Kushk located in Makran, Baluchistan and are descendant of Hooth they often used to go to Sindh and Southern Punjab for trade.

Distribution

Mostly the people of this tribe are settled in various districts of Sindh i.e. Ghotki, Thatta, Dadu, Jamshoro, Karachi, Kandiaro, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Matiari and Hyderabad.

In Baluchistan they are found in Sibi, Usta Muhammad, Turbat, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi and Mand.

They are also located in southern districts of Punjab i.e. D.G. Khan, Rahimyar Khan, Muzaffarghar and Khanpur .
