Khoti

The Khoti are a gotra (clan) of Jats, found in the Punjab region of Pakistan.

History and origin

According to the traditions of the tribe, the Khoti are descendent from a Raja Kang. Sohi, the grandson of the Raja, moved from Ludhiana and settled in Sialkot, and from him descend the Sohi tribe of the Jats.[1]

Khoti, a descendant of Sohi settled in Jhelum, where the bulk of the tribe is still found.[2] They occupy several villages in Pind Dadan Khan Tehsil, with Chak Hamid being the main one in Pind Dadan Khan Tehsil, at a distant from Jhelum river, and Khottian. They are also the main Jat clan of Chakwal District, with the village of Khotian, near the town of Choa Saidanshah being a centre of the tribe. In addition, there is another village by the name of Khottian in Chakwal, now known as Sahgalabad is also home to the Khotis.
