Kherva (Gujarati: ખેરવા), is a village in the Mehsana District, Gujarat, India, situated on State Highway 217 between Gandhinagar and Mehsana. It borders the following villages: Devarasan, Kadavasan, Mulsan, Jagudan, Sanganpur ( સાંગણપુર ), Punasan, Hebuva, Udalpur, Gunjala, Dharusan and Damnava.

The nearest railway stations are Jagudan which is located 6 km from Kherva and Mehsana, 10 km from Kherva.

Geography

On state highway no 217 , Kherva is situated on Gandhinagar- Mehsana Highway. Kherva is Eight KM away from Distric Centre, Mehsana. Kherva is one of the biggest village of Mehsana District. Kherva is increasing day by day.The Sujlam Suflam canal passes Kherva on the road to Udalpur where a large artificial lake has been constructed. Residents around the lake use its water for farming and fishing. The Gujarat Underground Water Laboratory is situated at Kherva.

Demography

Kherva is home to various castes and religions. The major religions in Kherva are Hinduism, Islam and Jainism. The total population of Kherva is approximately 13,000 where Hindus constitute the main population. Patel and Thakore castes constitute 35% of the total population. Raval (Yogi), Satawara, Parmar, Rabari and Prajapati follow them. The Muslim population is the second-largest group. Patels are mainly farmers while other castes do different business. Ravals work on lemon tree and on sundries. The Thakors cooperate with Patels. Kheravian more emphasis on education. Khervaian spread all over world. Most of them live in the USA, UK, Australia, Britain etc.

Students from all surrounding villages come to study at JVMK.JVMK holds various functions and Sport-festival District level as well as State level.JVMK arranged successfully STATE LEVEL KHO-KHO CHAMPIONSHIP in past.Ganpat Univesity is situated at Kherva is becoming education hub in State. Temples

The Sadhimataji temple in Kherva is a well-known holy site for its devotees. It is situated 2 km from Kherva on the Mehsana-Kalol road. Every Sunday and Tuesday, people go barefoot to worship Sadhimataji. Sadhimataji is the goddess of Raval Yogi of Kherva.On Dharo Atham, there is engaged Fair of SADHIMATA by Raval Yogi of Kherva.There is fable that Fair is starting after Flagging of Raval Yogi Community.

There are other famous temples of Kherva are Ramji Mandir ,Siddhnath Mahadev, Joganimataji, Ambaji Mata, Bahuchar Mata. Siddhnath Mahadev is ancient temple.Ambaji Mandir near it is aproximateli 1300 year old.

There are two proverbs about Kherva: "Kherva Ni Kher Ane Bahar Ni Laher", means "Outsider vendors earn more than in Kherva than local ones" The other proverb: "Badhe Gaya Hasho Pan Kherva Nahi" means "you may have gone everywhere but Kherva, as Kherva is a mighty one".
