Khary K. Campbell [pronounced /ˈkɛəri/] (born April 4, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American football linebacker who last played for the Houston Texans of the National Football League. He was signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2002. He played college football at Bowling Green.

Campbell has also been a member of the New York Jets and Washington Redskins.

Early years

Campbell played high school football at Sylvania Southview High School in Sylvania, Ohio, starting at safety and halfback/wide receiver his final three years. He also ran track.

College career

Campbell then attended Bowling Green where he finished his collegiate career with 299 tackles, two interceptions, ten forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries. He led his team in tackles after both junior and senior seasons and was a second team all-MAC selection as a senior.

Professional career

Dallas Cowboys

After going undrafted in the 2002 NFL Draft, Campbell signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. He was waived on August 27 and re-signed to the practice squad on September 2.

New York Jets

Campbell was signed off the Cowboys' practice squad by the New York Jets on September 24, 2002. He appeared in nine games for the Jets as a rookie, recording seven tackles.

As an exclusive-rights free agent in the 2003 offseason, Campbell was tendered a contract by the Jets and re-signed on April 1. He entered the 2003 season as a reserve linebacker and special teams player with the Jets, recording three tackles in four games. Campbell was waived by the Jets on October 1.

Washington Redskins

Campbell signed with the Washington Redskins on April 5, 2004. He played nine games and recorded 13 tackles for the Redskins that season before suffering a torn ACL in his left knee and being placed on injured reserve.

Campbell played in 15 games for the Redskins in 2005, recording 15 tackles. He also earned the team's Ed Block Courage Award.

The Redskins re-signed Campbell to a three-year contract in March 2006. He went on to appear in 14 games for the team that season, including his first career start. He finished the season with 21 tackles.

Campbell appeared in all 16 games for the first time in his career in 2007, recording a career-high 34 tackles. He played in 14 more games for the Redskins in 2008, recording 13 tackles. He became an unrestricted free agent in the 2009 offseason.

Houston Texans

Campbell was signed by the Houston Texans on August 17, 2009. He was waived on September 5 and re-signed on September 30.
