Kharade

Kharade is a sub-clan of the Bhonsle clan of the Maratha of India. Their name Kharade comes from the village of Kharadi in Sangli district.

The clan has a presence in western Maharashtra areas like Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, and Pune. Kharades worship the same totems as Bhoite, Ghorpade, Kates and Bhosale.[1][2][3][4][5]

Kharades served the Maratha Empire throughout its existence. The Sardar Subhanaji Kharade sarnoubat, General of the Maratha Navy, was a faithful of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Sardar Shetyaji Kharade and his son Sardar Fakirji Shetyaji Kharade died in battle against Shahapasand Khan, the Wazir of Abdali. Sardar Tanaji Kharade was active in the Battle of Baradi Ghat and the Third Battle of Panipat (1761).
