Kesa Electricals plc (LSEKESA EuronextKESA) is a major British-based French multinational consumer electronics and household appliance retailing group. It is the third largest electrical group in Europe. It is dual-listed on the London Stock Exchange and Euronext and is a member of the FTSE 250 index.

History

The Company was formed in 2003 by a demerger from Kingfisher plc.[2] In 2007 the Company bought Menaje Del Hogar, a Spanish electrical retail chain.[3] The Company sold its Swiss operation on 6 July 2009.[4]

Operations

Kesa Electricals is based in London and owns several European retailers including Comet in the United Kingdom, and Darty in France. It also has sourcing offices based in Paris and Hong Kong, as well as a wholly owned wholesaler of electrical accessories, Dacem, who supply all of Kesa's European operations.[5]

Disposal of Comet

On the 9th November 2011 Kesa announced plans to dispose of Comet.[6] Kesa Electricals will pay £50m to exit the loss making venture and assign ownership to equity firms Hailey Holdings and Hailey Acquisitions. It is not known whether the company will remain based in Britain or listed on the London Stock Exchange after this.
