Keep Scotland in Britain is the cross-party group that will be campaigning for a no vote in the Scottish independence referendum. It will be launched in early 2012.[1][2]
Unionist politicians from both Scotland and the rest of the UK intend to work together to build a case for retaining the Union. Former Chancellor Alistair Darling (Labour) and former Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy are expected to have prominent roles in the organisation.[1]
Although the figurehead of the campaign has not yet been agreed upon, both the Conservative Party and the Liberal Democrats have already agreed that it must be a Labour Party politician.[1] A decision will be made following the result of the Scottish Labour leadership election, announced on 17 December 2011.[1] The new Scottish Labour leader Johann Lamont has stated that she will be fronting the campaign.[3]
