Katy Topuria

Katy or Ketevan Topuria (Russian: Кети (Кетеван) Топурия, Georgian: ქეთა (ქეთევან) თოფურია), born September 9, 1986, in Tblisi,[1] is a Georgian singer and the current vocalist for the group A-Studio. She lives in Russia and has ties in Kazakhstan.

Biography

Her late father, Andro Topuria, was a crime lord,[2][3] and her mother, Natalya Topuria, is a chemical engineer.[1] They are Georgian by origin, but also have Italian and Polish roots.[4]

Katy has been involved in music since childhood. In 1998, she graduated Gogi Sudradze Music School in Tblisi, and in 2003, graduated music school with a specialty in vocals. In 2003, she got into the State University of Georgia in the psychology department, but she cut off her study to accept the invitation to replace Polina Griffith in the group A-Studio, and moved to Moscow. In March of 2005, she was introduced as the new vocalist for A-Studio, which is her position to this day.[4]
