Katulu Ravi Kumar

kutulu Ravi Kumar (born 24 April 1988) is an Indian weightlifter from Orissa. At the 2010 Commonwealth Games, he won a gold in the Men's 69 kg weightlifting.[1]

K Ravi Kumar hails from Berhampur in Orissa. He started weightlifting at the Veer Hanuman Club in the town. Ravi Kumar, originally a bodybuilder who took up weightlifting just three years before the 2010 Commonwealth games, won with a record total of 321 kg.Born and brought up at Berhampur, Orissa, K Ravi Kumar belongs to a small ordinary family. Seven year before, he used to practice body building in a club. However, after his trainer Narayan Sahu's counsel he changed his diversion towards weightlifting, which at last caused him to an outstanding performer. K Ravi KumarK Ravi Kumar won many state, national, and international awards in his short life time. He won 3 gold medals in 2009 Commonwealth Game held at Penang, Malaysia. Then in 2010, he won 3 gold medals in New Delhi Commonwealth games. He lifted 147 kg in snatches, 175 kg in clean and jerk and a total 321 kg in weightlifting. In year 2011, he won 3 bronze medals in senior weightlifting championship at Tongling, China. He also won 3 gold medals in senior weightlifting championship held at Bangalore. K Ravi Kumar now works with Indian Army. [2]
