Katapady or Katapadi (ಕಟಪಾಡಿ) is a small Town (you can say well connected village) near Udupi in Karnataka, India. It is situated at the junction where national highway NH-17 meets the roads leading to Matti(village) and Shankarapura. Katapadi is surrounded by lush green fields, rivers and a beautiful untouched beach. Katapadi is well known for Matti Gulla ( a type of Brinjal/Eggplant), Kambala and Jasmine ( Mallige in Tulu). Name Katapadi is derived from "Kattu paadi' which means "Tie it down" in Tulu. Apparently the place is named Katapadi after a lost Horse which was found and tied down here.

There are quite a few places of worship around Katapadi belonging to different communities, Oldest amongst these is Chokkadi Shri Mahalingeshwara temple, this has history of about 12 centuries. Shri Venkataramana Temple is more than three centuries old. Other Temples are Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple, Shri Kalikamba Vishawakarmeshwara Temple and Shri Vishwanatha Kshetra. All temples observe annual Car festival ( Rathotsava)celebrations.

There is a Jumma Masjid, which holds Urus every year.
