Karakurussi is a village in Palakkad district.Mannarkkad Taluk in the state of Kerala, India.It is the Biggest Village in Mannarkkad Taluk.[1]
Karakurussi is located in between Mannarkkad and Kongad. It can be reached thru Ponnamkode (Palakkad - Mannarkkad Road). The Village is well connected by Road. It is just 4 km away from Palakkad-Kozhikode National Highway(NH 213)via Mannarkkad. i.e. a deviation from "Ponnamkode" a Place through the NH will take you to the village. The other way is through Kongad. Take a deviation in Palakkad-Cherpulasseri (SH 48)from Kottaseri you will reach Kongad. Karakurussi is just 10 km away from Kongad.(Through Tippu Sultan Road). The Nearest Railway Station is Palakkad Junction (25 km) and Perinthelmanna (23 km) Station. The Nearest Airport is Karipur International Airport (Calicut) at Kondotty (80 km) and Coimbatore Airport at Peelamedu. The Village is under Mannarkkad Police Station & Mannarkkad Fire Station.
As of 2001[update] India census, Karakurissi had a population of 25,161 with 12136 males and 13025 females.[1].
Karakurussi has derived from the word "karakuruchi" which means spines Karakurussi Junction is also known as "mukkatta" (It's a joining place of four roads). Karakurussi has one of the biggest Govt school in the Palakkad District. Government. Vocational Higher Secondary School. It is one of the three Vocational Higher Secondary schools in the district.
