Kannambra is a small village in the Palakkad district of Kerala state, South India. Connected with National_Highway_47_(India) at Vaniyanpara (almost 7 km) towards Thrissur direction and at Vadakkencherry (almost 5 km). It is famous for the Kannambra Vela (festival), celebrated each year on May 24. This is a miniature Thrissur Pooram and is celebrated by two rival groups represented by the villages of Kannambra and Rishinaradamangalam. Festivities include the noon panchavadyam at the Viswanatha Swamy temple inside the Kannambra Nair House, and the evening melam with caparisoned elephants from both sides, followed by a firework display. Another important thing is that it is a naturally blessed place. The Goddess worshiped is Sree Kurumbabagavathy. This festival was actually celebrated with very high spirits when "Vela Venkitcha Iyer" was alive.
