The population is a mixture of Christians, Muslims, and Tamil Vellalars.
The K. K. Road (Kottayam-Kumily Road) and the Main Eastern Highway (Muvattupuzha-Pathanamthitta-Punalur Road) connects Kanjirappally to other major towns.
Kanjirappally assembly constituency is part of Pathanamthitta (Lok Sabha constituency). Previously it was part of Muvattupuzha (Lok Sabha constituency). Petta Junction is the main city in kanjirappally.
