Kallakurichi (Tamil: கள்ளக்குறிச்சி) is a municipality in Viluppuram district in state of Tamil Nadu, India.

As of 2001[update] India census[1], Kallakurichi had a population of 36,742. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Kallakurichi has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81% and female literacy is 67%. In Kallakurichi, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. Kallakurichi is the largest Taluk in Tamil Nadu comprising around 268 villages, giving you the reason for its large growth than Villupuram, district head quarters. Kallakurichi Municipal Market is one of the important commercial centres which support the daily needs of the population residing in the town and the surrounding rural areas. The Municipal market is located in the central area near the bus stand and accommodates about a thousand shops. It also has a thriving farmer's market called Uzhavar Santhai.
Agriculture is the backbone of this town. Sugarcane cultivation is prevalent in this area. Kallakurichi is also known as "Sugar City" as there are two major sugar factories here; Gomuki (on the way to Kachirapalayam) and the other one located in MoongilDuraiPattu.
The State Bank of India, Kallakurichi Branch is the most busiest spot in this town. It caters to the local needs.
