Kalapet, or Kalapettai, is a town and enclave in the Union territory of Pondicherry, India. It was annexed by the French in 1703 and has been a part of the Union territory ever since. It forms a part of the Pondicherry taluk of the Pondicherry District of the Union Territory of Pondicherry.
Kalapet is the northern-most enclave of Pondicherry district and is surrounded on three sides by the Viluppuram district of Tamil Nadu while the Bay of Bengal bounds it on the east. It is cut off from the rest of Pondicherry by the state of Tamil Nadu. Kalapet Murugan temple is most famous in that area.we can expect lovable festive celebration in the month of March or April. People worship the lord of Murugan by sacrificing their blood when they are pulling heavy vehicle with sharpen needle tied in back of their body.
Pondicherry University is located in Kalapet. Law college, Jail are also located in Pondicherry.
