In the 2001 census, Kakdwip CD Block had a population of 2,39,381 out of which 1,22,792 were males and 1,16,589 were females. Decadal growth for the period 1991-2001 was 25.93% for Kakdwip, against 20.89% in South 24 Parganas district.[2]Decadal growth in West Bengal was 17.84%.[3]
