KXAL-LP (104.7 FM) is a low power radio station licensed to Chalk Hill Community, Texas, USA. The station is currently owned by Chalk Hill Educational Media, Inc. It was one of the first Low Power FM stations to receive an FCC license in Texas. The station signed on September 18, 2002. KXAL-LP, “Unforgettable QX-FM,” is locally programmed and operated, established with the idea of serving the needs of the people in its immediate service area. The station's jazzy adult standards format is aimed at an older audience.

KXAL-LP is also found on three FM translators in the East Texas area that rebroadcast the originating station's programming. They are: K250AJ, 97.9 MHz Tyler, TX; K287AJ, 105.3 Kilgore, TX; and K270AW, 101.9, Longview, TX. It also streams on line at www.kzqx.com.[1]

Move to 100.3

In August 2009, it was announced that, pending Federal Communications Commission (FCC)approval, Chalk Hill Communications was purchasing KXAL FM 100.3 Tatum, Texas from Waller Media and moving the Adult Standards format to the new frequency. The current 104.7 frequency will be sold to The Church at Lake Cherokee, and will be changed to a light classical and jazz format. It is believed at this time that the 101.9 and 105.3 translators in Longview and Kilgore respectively will remain with the 104.7 frequency and rebroadcast the new light classical/jazz format, and that the Tyler translator on 97.9 will move with the 100.3 frequency and stay with the Adult Standards format.
