KZFN (106.1 FM, "Z-Fun 106 ") is a radio station in Moscow, Idaho. It has an effective radiated power of 62,000 watts and covers the Moscow, Idaho and Pullman, Washington listening area.
Z-Fun 106 is a Mainstream CHR (Contemporary hit radio) radio station and plays the most popular music from many genres. Z-Fun's main competition (the defunct "Hot 104") lost the ability to compete with Z-Fun and switched formats on April 1, 2003. Z-Fun listenership has since increased as they are now the only hit radio station in Moscow, Idaho / Pullman.
The transmitter and tower are located on Paradise Ridge, just South of Moscow, ID. This location provides excellent coverage to the North, West, and South. To the East, the broadcast signal is limited due to the Bitterroot mountain range.
The "Rude Awawkening" morning show, is hosted by Steve Shannon and Anne Cosby from 6am-10am weekdays. Jeff Scott is on the air from 10am-2pm , Johnny Mann from 2pm-6pm and Brandon Lee hosts the Z-fun night show from 6pm-Midnight. Weekends are hosted at various times by Steve Shannon, Ray, Johnny Mann, Brandon Lee and Anne Cosby. Syndicated programs Retrostars and American Top 40 also air back to back starting at 6am on Sundays. The station's format caters primarily to persons 18–49 years of age and the local WSU and U of I college crowd.
Until early 2008, KZFN was also carried on K237DP-FM 95.3 FM, a 34 watt broadcast translator in the "Tri-cities" of Richland, Pasco, and Kennewick and had picked up a significant audience in that area. Simulcast of the station ended due to the sale of the translator.
The station has a website, www.zfun106.com, but the site has been "under construction" for three years and consists only of a spalsh page to that effect. However, all station information and events are updated on their myspace page listed below.
