KUAM-LP
KUAM-LP, digital channel 8.2, LPTV analog channel 20, and cable 11 on MCV Broadband and GTA's GUdTV system, is a CBS affiliate for the United States territory of Guam, which it covers with broadcasts and on cable. The station is owned by Pacific Telestations, Inc.
History
The low-powered station began telecasting on November 20, 1995 with CBS programming, which had aired on sister station KUAM-TV, who wanted to focus more on its NBC affiliation. The move would result in adding more CBS and NBC programming for each station, as opposed to airing selected shows from both networks for KUAM-TV to air. KUAM-LP also carried programs from The WB on a secondary basis from their inception until 2002.
Because of its LPTV status, the station also airs its programming on cable 11, which helps reach its audience on the island. On February 18, 2009 KUAM-LP began simulcasting its signal on KUAM's digital subchannel 8.2, exanding their over the air reach throughout Guam. KUAM-LP is one of the few television stations to sign off at night. It signs off at 1:30 AM and does not air Up To The Minute. Instead, during its downtime, the station simply airs CBS network promos overnight.
