KRHW is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Sikeston, Missouri, USA, the station serves the Southeast Missouri area, and operates on 1520 kHz in the AM radio band. KRHW is owned by Withers Broadcasting Company of Southeast Missouri, LLC.[1] Prior to August 17, 1997, the station's callsign was KMPL.[2]
KRHW's skywave signal has been received as far north as the Quad Cities and Chicago and as far south as New Orleans.[3] However, due to the need to protect the nighttime skywave signals of former class I-B "Clear-channel stations" KOKC in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and WWKB in Buffalo, New York, which also broadcast on 1520 kHz, the station reduces its power to 1600 watts at nighttime and has an extremely directional antenna pattern aimed to the north and south with thick nulls to the east and west.[4]
KRHW also broadcasts in the FM radio band on translator K255AW on 98.9 MHz in Sikeston.
