The station broadcast with the calls KBXR beginning in March 1984 and was licensed to Weatherford, Oklahoma. The station changed calls to KWEY-FM on September 20, 1991. The station previously used the moniker "97.3 The Coyote" when it was a country station before changing calls to KOJK in February 2006. During this time, it moved closer to Oklahoma City and began using the ABC Networks' "Jack FM" network for programming. On March 8, 2010, KOJK dropped the Jack FM format and the last song on 97.3 Jack fm was I'll Cry instead by The Beatles and Then 97.3 Jack Fm became known as 97.3 King Country KKNG-FM. Former Format
