Station history
Originally having signed on the air in 1967 as KLIQ-FM, KGON would begin its life as an AOR on February 1, 1974, with "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles as its first song being played on the station[2]. It would continue in this direction until October 1992 when it shifted to its current classic rock direction.
